Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

For children ages 3-6, we offer Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS), a beautiful way of sharing faith rooted in Scripture, Tradition, and Liturgy.  It is a holistic approach to  catechesis that began in Italy in 1954 as a collaborative work with Dr. Sofia Cavaletti, a Catholic scripture scholar, and Gianna Gobbi, a Montessori-educated teacher.

In CGS, catechists implement Maria Montessori’s educational principles and prepare a prayerful, age-appropriate environment called the atrium.  In the atrium, with a special emphasis on sacred scripture, the children explore the essential mysteries of the Kingdom of God, the Sacraments, the life of  Jesus, the liturgy and other elements of the Catholic faith tradition.   It is based on the conviction that God and the child are already in a relationship; the task before us is to help the child deepen that relationship.

To learn more about CGS at St. Therese, contact Megan Gavrillen in the main office.

Thursday Scripture Circle is cancelled until further notice.

At this time Mass is limited to Parishioners only.   Attendance is limited to due to COVID-19.  Advance registration is required.

Bishop Luis Zarama continues to waive the Sunday Mass obligation.
